Introduction to Cybersecurity with Pennant Education’s Network Academy by Cisco (6 hours)

Students will explore digital safety, data privacy, encryption, malware protection, system defense and develop practical skills

Module 1: Intro to Cybersecurity

Students will learn what personal data is, where it is stored online, who hackers are, what data security breaches are, and the potential consequences of a security breach

Key Concept: cyber attakers, Internal and External Threats, Cyberwarfare

Module 2: Attacks, Concepts and Techniques

Students will analyze cyberattacks, explore infiltration methods, and examine security vulnerabilities and exploits

Key concept: Types of Malware, Social Engineering, Advanced Persistent Threats

Module 3: Protecting your Data and Privacy

Students will learn how to protect their devices, understand the risks of public Wi-Fi, discover what encryption is, and explore best practices for staying safe online to protect their personal data

Key Concept: Encryption, The Data Use Policy, Two Factor Authentication

Module 4: Protecting the Organization

Students will explore cybersecurity devices and technologies, the behavioral approach to cybersecurity, and Cisco’s approach to cybersecurity.

Key Concept: Security Appliances, Behavior-Based Security, Cisco's CSIRT

Module 5: Will Your Future Be In Cybersecurity?

Students will discuss legal and ethical issues in cybersecurity, education and careers in cybersecurity, professional certification, and cybersecurity career pathways

Key Concept: Corporate Ethical Issues, Professional Certifications

Module 6: Course Final Exam

The final session will summarize all the knowledge gained, allow students to take the final test, and receive their first Cisco certificate
