Catherine is an experienced Digital Art instructor and a long-standing member of the Pennant Education teaching team. She helps students develop their artistic skills through personalized instruction in digital drawing, illustration, and creative design.

All K–12 lessons at Pennant Education are live, one-on-one sessions with an instructor. Classes are held through Zoom or Groupworld and may include screen sharing, interactive materials, virtual whiteboards, and other learning resources depending on the subject.
For most subjects, no special software is required. Students simply join their lesson online. Some courses, such as coding or digital art, may require a free account or specific software, and we will let families know what is needed before classes begin.
Yes. Student safety and lesson quality are important to us. Online lessons are generally recorded, allowing our administrative team to review sessions when needed and periodically monitor the quality of instruction.
Recordings are used internally for quality assurance and to address any questions or concerns that may arise. They are not used for marketing or other public purposes without permission. If a family prefers that lessons not be recorded, they can discuss this with our team.
We take teacher selection seriously. Our instructors are required to have at least a bachelor’s degree, along with relevant teaching experience. We typically look for a minimum of 3–4 years of experience, while many of our teachers have 7–8 years or more.
Our selection process includes an interview and a demonstration lesson so we can evaluate not only a teacher’s qualifications, but also how they explain concepts, communicate with students, and conduct an online class. We also review relevant teaching certifications when applicable and request professional references from previous employers.
Before recommending a teacher, our team takes time to learn about your child — their age, learning goals, interests, current level, and any preferences that may help us find a good match.
We then recommend an instructor based on both subject expertise and teaching style. Families can begin with a $15 trial lesson to see how the student and teacher work together.
Sometimes a great teacher simply isn’t the right personality or learning-style match for a particular student. If the first match doesn’t feel right, we can review the experience, discuss your feedback, and arrange a complimentary trial with another instructor.
You’re never expected to handle this on your own. Our administrative team stays involved after classes begin and checks in with families to see how things are going.
If something doesn’t feel right — whether it’s the teaching style, pace, lesson structure, homework, or simply the student-teacher connection — just let us know. We can speak with the instructor, adjust the learning approach or program, or help you transition to another teacher.
Our goal is to make these changes easy and comfortable for families, without putting parents in the position of having to manage difficult conversations with an instructor themselves.

Parents can contact us with questions about scheduling, lessons, learning goals, teacher communication, or any concerns that come up along the way. We stay in communication with both families and instructors and help coordinate changes when needed.

Yes. Personalized learning means the plan can evolve with your child.
The focus of lessons, curriculum, pace, homework, learning goals, and even lesson frequency can be adjusted as needs change. Parents can discuss changes with our team by phone, email, or WhatsApp, and we’ll coordinate with the instructor to make sure everyone is working toward the same goals.
We understand that family schedules change and unexpected situations happen. Lessons can generally be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
We also understand that emergencies and illness don’t always come with 24 hours’ notice. If something unexpected happens, contact our team as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help.
